James Mitchell

James Mitchell, 62, of South Abington Township, died on Monday due to injuries sustained in a fire at his home. He was the widower of Lynn Zawicki Mitchell. The couple had been married 14 years prior to her death in 2015.

Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, he was the son of the late James Edward and Leila Jordan Mitchell. James  was raised in Bayonne, New Jersey and attended Bayonne High School. Prior to retirement, he worked as an ice sculptor in the hotel industry.

Surviving are sisters Donna Mitchell-Burgess and Denise Mitchell, both of Bayonne, New Jersey; niece, Charise Burgess and Ashley Mitchell; uncle Lewis Mitchell of Sumter, South Carolina; and a host of other nieces and cousins.

In addition to ice sculpting, James loved dogs, planting beautiful flowers in his garden, and barbecuing on the grill when family came to visit. His love for his family was unconditional.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Jermyn Cemetery, Jermyn.
