James C. Rogers, 84, of Mehoopany passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elinor (Holmgren) Rogers.
Born on September 23, 1939 in Dallas, he is the son of the late Eldon and Louva (Jones) Rogers.
Jim began his professional journey in 1963 when he joined Sears and Roebuck as a repairman. For fifteen years, he diligently served the company with his technical expertise and dedication. In 1978, he transitioned to Procter and Gamble, where he worked for an impressive nineteen years until his retirement in 1999.
Before embarking on his professional career, Jim honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1958 to 1961.
He found happiness spending time outdoors, especially engaging in activities such as fox hunting, fishing, golfing, running dogs, and yard work.
Jim's proudest accomplishment was being an active member of Vernon Baptist Church throughout his life. Additionally, he was a proud member of the Pennsylvania State Fox and Coyote Hunters Association-a testament to his dedication to preserving wildlife and fostering friendships among fellow enthusiasts.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Jimmy Rogers, Glenn Rogers and wife Christina, Jack Rogers and wife Shannon; daughter, Barbara Matylewicz and husband Michael; sisters, Janet Sorber, Donna Kurtz; grandchildren, Kaleigh and husband Garrett, Garrett, Sherry Lee and husband Aaron, Derek, Jackson and wife Elissa, Grace and fiancé Francisco Quinones, Henry and wife Crystal, Jesse, Glory, Sophia, Simon, Quinn, Tess; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Travis, Ava, Theo, Eliana.
He is preceded in death by brothers, Thomas, Robert, Richard Rogers; sisters, Marilyn Trimble, Diane Brennan.
Family and friends are invited to attend James' funeral services which will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 11:00AM from the Sheldon Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657 with Rev. Glenn Spencer presiding. Interment will follow with full military honors in Union Hill Cemetery, Mehoopany.
A viewing will be held from 10:00AM until the time of service on Saturday.
