Janet Colman Brehm

Janet Colman Brehm, 67, passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 21 in Georgia, where she resided.

Born on Oct. 5, 1955, she was a native of Clarks Summit and daughter of the late Richard and Helen Colman. She loved spending her summer breaks on Lake Winola, where she learned to swim, water ski and play golf at the Scranton Canoe Club. She attended Abington Heights High School, class of 1973. She graduated from Shippensburg College in 1977 with a Bachelor's degree in early childhood education. She later went to earn her Master's degree, certified Principal of Education from the University of Scranton. She enjoyed teaching and mentoring young people during her 25-year teaching career at Elk Lake Elementary before moving south to Georgia. She was an avid golfer, participating in fundraisers and tournaments. After putting away her clubs due to health reasons, she began focusing on her crafting skills and made the most beautiful and memorable personalized cards over the past 10 years.

In addition to the love of her life, George, Janet is survived by her brother, Jim Colman (Cyndi); nieces, Jaime Colman and husband Matthew Eldred; and Christine Washatka and husband Jonathan Washatka; stepchildren, Steven Brehm, Will Brehm (Christy) and Robert Brehm; grandchildren, Harmony Brehm, Gabriel Brehm and Francis Brehm.

A funeral will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Clarks Summit Methodist Church, 1310 Morgan Highway, Clarks Summit. The family will receive friends on Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
