Listen to Obituary

Janet Ann Kalasinski, 71, peacefully became an angel of God on Sunday, February 18, 2024 surrounded by the love of her family.

Born and raised in Clarks Summit, she was the daughter of the late John Zinicola and Ann Noto Zinicola.

She was a graduate of Abington Heights High School and attended Brandywine College, Delaware. Before becoming an entrepreneur and dedicated Childcare Provider, she was a manager at JCPenney.

She will be fondly remembered as the "Child Whisperer" by the countless families whose lives she influenced as she welcomed their children into her home for over 35 years at her in-home daycare. She was a genuine Caregiver and loved what she did and treated every child she provided for as her own.

She enjoyed spending time with and taking care of her children and grandchildren, visiting her family in Florida, reading, a good game of rummy and checkers, going out to dinner, trying new recipes, keeping a beautiful home, and always loved being a part of her grandchildren's milestones and events. She selflessly lived for the ones she loved and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Also surviving are two daughters, Danielle Cikovic and husband Jeremy, Naples FL; and Julianne Cucura and husband Patrick, Roaring Brook Twp; a son, Jonathan Kalasinski and wife Lauren, South Abington Twp; six grandchildren she adored being a Gram Gram to; Ava, Lila, Anna, Nathan, and Lena Kalasinski and Hudson Cikovic.

She is also survived by a sister, Anne Carleo, Clarks Summit; and three brothers, Nathan Zinicola and wife Judy, Clarks Summit; Julius Zinicola and John Zinicola, Florida; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and nephews, and many neighbors and friends who were family to her.

She was proceeded in death by her infant siblings Juliann and John Zinicola.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 22, 2024 from 4-6 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, February 23, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State Street, Clarks Summit. Those attending the Mass are asked to go directly to the church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeastern Pennsylvania, 609 Ash Street, Scranton, PA 18510, in honor of her love and dedication to children over the years.
