Jason Rosencrance, 50, of Ransom Township, died unexpectedly on Saturday evening at Regional Hospital, Scranton. He is survived by the former Laura Mazaleski, his wife of 14 years.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Clarence and Betty Sherman Rosencrance. He was a 1991 graduate of Abington Heights High School. Jason was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving as a Crew Chief for the 101st Airborne. He was employed by DPW in Falls Township. He was a great cook and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with family.
Also surviving are a son, Jacob Rosencrance; daughters Harlie Jones and Jolienne Jones; stepdaughter Abby Howey; grandson Lucas Slowey; brothers Daniel (Kim) Rosencrance of Ransom Township, and Rusty Rosencrance of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; father-in-law and mother-in-law Francis and Cathy Mazaleski; brother-in-law Leonard (Kassandra) Mazaleski; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Rosencrance.
A funeral service with military honors will be held on Thursday at 6 p.m. at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 South State Street, Clarks Summit, with services by Karen Rickaby. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made out to Laura Rosencrance, who will be opening a scholarship fund for their son.
