Jeanne Trexler, 97, of Tunkhannock passed away Sunday, April 27, 2025 at Allied Services Skilled Nursing Center, Scranton. She is survived by her husband Kenneth Trexler. They would have been married for 65 years in July.
Born on December 15, 1927 in Tamaqua, she is the daughter of the late Robert and Kathleen (Billman) Garis.
She graduated from Reading High School before pursuing her passion for music and graduating from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ. Her devotion to choral and organ music led her to serve as the organist and choir director at several notable churches, including Alsace Lutheran Church and Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in Reading, PA, as well as St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Scranton.
She was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Scranton. She was also an outstanding cook and baker, and made many beautiful hand stitched quilts. She enjoyed gardening, sunsets and spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by son, Jonathan Trexler and wife Theresa; grandchildren, Mark Trexler, David Trexler, Catherine Trexler, Troy Torres Jr., Bernard Torres; several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by brothers, Robert Garis and wife Fern, John (Jack) Garis and wife Eleanor; sister, Mary Kathleen Bolger and husband J. Richard.
The family would like to acknowledge Dr. Phillip Boccagno M.D. for his many years of excellent care. Also, Allied Skilled Services 3N for their compassionate care these last few months. Finally, family friends John and Patty Holdredge for their kindness and assistance.
Funeral services will be held privately. Interment will be held in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock.
