Joann Ceresi

JoAnn C. Ceresi, 87, Newton Township, passed away at Geisinger, Scranton. She was the widow of John "Chic" Ceresi, who died in 2004.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ann Koziol Cummings. She was a 1956 graduate of Newton-Ransom High School and a member of Our Lady of the Snows Church, Clarks Summit. She enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Society, Abington Bowling League and The Mother's Softball League.

Survived by daughters: Sharon Chmiel (Bear Creek), Lori Brickel and husband Scott (South Abington Township); sons: John Jr. and wife Leslie (North Carolina) and Scott (Clarks Summit); five grandchildren: Paul Chmiel and wife Kim, Austin Ceresi and fiancée Allyssa Idacavage, Olivia Ceresi and husband Steve Derenberger, Krista Brickel, and Eric Brickel and fiancée Colleen Sullivan; and great grandson: Callan Chmiel.

She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Joseph Chmiel; sister, Mary Ann Murray; and brother, Robert Cummings.

JoAnn was an avid gardener who took pride in her flower garden. She enjoyed her travels with friends and family. Everyone enjoyed JoAnn's themed parties. JoAnn took pride in all of her families' achievements and will be deeply missed.

Friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, May 20 starting at 12 noon at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit. The blessing service will begin at 2 pm.
