JoAnne Marie Mucha, 81, of Forkston passed away Monday, September 30, 2024 at home. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Frank Mucha.
Born on November 26, 1942 in Nanticoke, she is the daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Koval) Stadts.
She attended Greater Nanticoke High School. JoAnne's early years were shaped by her strong ties to her family and community. Those who remember her will often recount the heartwarming story of how she met her husband, Frank. It was an unexpected encounter at her parents' restaurant, Ma's Diner, late one night when Frank stopped by to change a tire and wash his hands. As JoAnne was closing the store, she casually asked if he would like something to eat, a moment that would mark the beginning of their beautiful journey together.
JoAnne dedicated herself wholeheartedly to raising her three children, finding profound joy and pride in their accomplishments and growth. She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Wyalusing.
Additionally, she loved gardening, tending to her flowers, and watching the birds that frequented her yard. She also took great pleasure in canning.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters, Lisa Sholes and husband Christopher, Aurelia Jervis and husband Jeremy; son, Stanley Mucha; grandchildren, Brittney Sholes, Kayla Billings and husband Adam, Jarrett and David Jervis.
She is preceded in death by brothers, Peter and Andrew Stadts; sisters, Caroline Casey and Dolores Patterson.
Funeral services will be held at a later date.
