John (Jack) A Doyle, 85 passed away Tuesday January 28,2025 at Steward Florida Medical Center in Pompano Beach, FL.

Born in Moscow, PA, he was the son of the late John F and Catherine R Mc Dermott Doyle.

Jack was a 1957 graduate of Holy Rosary High School in Scranton. Upon graduating he enlisted in the US Army, where he served three years on active duty, mostly at The Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe,(SHAPE).  After serving in the military, he was employed for many years by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Bureau of Employment Security Office in Scranton, where he retired from.  During a brief lay off by the state, Jack decided to further his education and attended Lackawanna County Vo-Technical School where he earned his certificate as a licensed practical nurse. For years, he put his nursing skills, compassion and care for others to work as an L.P.N. working at Laurel Hill Nursing Home, Allied HealthCare, Clarks Summit State Hospital and the former Jewish Nursing Home now named Elan Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation. While working full time he also enrolled at the University of Scranton where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1995.

Along with furthering his education and strengthening his career, Jack loved to cook and travel. He retired to Florida in 2002 where he enjoyed playing some golf and entertaining his friends within his senior living community with delicious foods he prepared and his quick wit and sense of humor. His friendliness to others and easy communication led him to take on a retirement job as a Pier Agent for Holland America Cruise Line. He enjoyed the camaraderie with his co-workers and the travelers he met on a daily basis.

Jack is survived by two daughters and three sons, Ken (Mari Doyle) of Virginia, Colleen (Tim Hart) of Dunmore, Rick  (Maureen Doyle) of Florida, Kelli (Scott Thorpe)  of South Abington Twp. and Matt ( Trish Doyle)  of Virginia. Nine grandchildren, Lauren and Danny Hart, Bryan and Kevin Doyle, Kayla, Connor and Makenna Thorpe, Matthew and Meghan Doyle. One great grandson Rhett Doyle. He is also survived by three sisters Mary Marion, Sharon Martin and Caroline Doyle and two brothers, James Doyle and Thomas Doyle. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Geannie Doyle.
