John "Jack" Gallo, 90, of Fleetville, passed away on August 17th at home surrounded by his family after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, the former Muriel Davies.
Born in Nicholson on December 24, 1933. Jack was the son of the late Frank and Amelia Mason Gallo. He graduated from Benton High School, attended Penn State University and honorably served in the United States Army. Prior to retirement, he was the owner of John Gallo Roofing and Siding. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Clarks Summit.
Jack was an avid hunter and he loved seeing the wildlife outside his windows every day of the year. After his retirement, he and Muriel traveled throughout the United States to many national parks and places of natural beauty. Having met at a dance in 1956, they continued their love of dancing into their golden years.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph, Gerald and Frank and sisters, Frances Gallo, Joan Perry, June McGarity, Rosemary Jakubos, Amelia Dohanich and Lucille Matalavy.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Attorney Carlene Gallo and his son, John Gallo, Jr. He is also survived by a sister, Shirley Kirlin, several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Friday, August 23, at 10am at Trinity Lutheran Church, Clarks Summit.
Friends may call on Thursday, August 22 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Lawrence E Young Funeral Home, 418 S State Street, Clarks Summit.
