John "Tuna" Jenkins, 68, Dickson City, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 15th.
Born on December 9, 1954, he was the son of the late Edward and Margie Jenkins. He was a 1972 graduate of Abington Heights High School and graduated with honors from Lackawanna College, then worked in the Lackawanna County Tax Assessor's office for over 40 years.
For many years, he played and coached softball. He played for "Jake's Barbershop" and won many softball championships.
Every person who crossed Tuna's path fell in love with him. He had a contagious laugh and loved spending time with all his family and friends at Smiler's Pub. He lived a simple life and never said a negative comment about anyone.
Surviving are his four brothers: Jeff Jenkins, Archbald, Edward Jenkins, Clarks Summit, Thomas Jenkins, Bentonville, Arkansas, and Todd Jenkins, Clarks Summit; many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
A Memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 30th at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit. Family and friends may pay their respects at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of the service.
