John Edward Pricci, 78, of Clarks Summit, died on Monday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.

Born in Hahnemann Hospital (now Geisinger CMC-Scranton) on May 13, 1946, he was the son of the late John Edward and Ann Marie Tutino Pricci. His parents were part owners in the family business, Pricci's Supermarket. John was educated in the Scranton School System, graduating from Scranton Central in 1964. He attended the University of Scranton, obtaining a B.S. in Psychology. He then attended the University of Pittsburgh where he obtained a M.Ed. in counseling.

John was a resident of South Abington Township most of his life. He was employed by the Commonwealth of Pa. for 35 years, briefly as a counselor for the State Employment Office. He then went on to become a supervisor with the Social Security Disability Office in Wilkes-Barre. He was a member of UNICO Italian organization. He spent his years traveling, first through the United States and then Europe, covering most countries from Ireland to Israel each at least once. He made ski trips both in the USA and Europe. He traveled through Italy dozens of times and finally purchased a home there with his sister in the city of Alberobello in the state of Puglia from where their grandparents originated. He still has many family members there.

He is survived by a sister Maureen of Manhattan NYC; also, by a niece Nina Ippolito and nephew Michael Ippolito, both of NYC.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family and interment will be in the Italian American Cemetery, Moosic.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society.
