John Charles Venturi of Dalton, Pennsylvania, passed away on February 23, 2023 at the age of 72 following a courageous battle with kidney disease.
John was born on May 14, 1950 to Julia (Yacone) and Bruno Venturi in Scranton, Pennsylvania. John served in the United States Marine Corps earning an honorable discharge in 1971 after being stationed in Vietnam.
John is survived by his wife Christine Venturi; brothers Lou Venturi, and Michael Venturi; sister Lucille Pietrocarlo; daughters Lori Goodwin, Tammy Karas, and Julia Graff; grandchildren Shaina Belles, Jake Bonner, Tyler Venturi, Abbi Goodwin, Lena Karas, Frank Goodwin, Madelyn Graff and Dalton Graff; great grandchildren Andrew, Aliviana, and Aiden; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julia and Bruno; brother Bruno Venturi; sisters Antoinette Flipiski, and Dorothy Venturi; and his son John Jason Venturi.
John was a force of nature with a larger than life personality when you were in the room with him. He always had a joke at the ready and loved to laugh. He enjoyed cooking, watching "crab on the boat - crab off the boat", riding his tractor, and most recently could be found snapchatting his grandchildren. Anyone who knew John will remember him by his sense of humor, strong will and stubbornness.
The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, individuals make contributions to find a cure for kidney disease.
The family will host a viewing on Sunday, March 12, 2023 from 1 pm to 3 pm at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit.
