Joseph A. Dougherty, 95, of South Abington Township passed away on Saturday, October 3rd, 2025. Born on November 19, 1929 in Scranton, he was the son of the late Emery and Ann Miskovich Dougherty of West Scranton. He was a graduate of West Scranton High School and a Veteran of the United States Army, where he was deployed to Germany and served in the Korean War.

Joe was happily married for 53 years to the late Ann Morgan Dougherty, with whom he raised six children. He worked numerous jobs throughout his career and retired from PNC Bank. He enjoyed family reunions and cookouts and loved playing horse shoes and bean bags. Joe was an avid hunter and loved deer season and the Dough Boys Hunting Club cabin. He loved baseball and enjoyed a cold beer while watching the Yankees or Phillies, and was a big Penn State football fan. He especially loved working in his garden and making his own "Poppy's Pickles".

Preceding him in death were three of his children: Joseph, Michael, and Paul; and his brothers Emery (Duke) and Glenn Dougherty.

He is survived by son Mark Dougherty and wife Jeannie, Gerard Dougherty and wife Renee, all of South Abington; daughter Sharon Duffy of Clarks Summit; grandchildren Erin Osterhout, Jamie Dougherty, M.J. Dougherty, Jennifer Dougherty, Gordon Dougherty, Sara Skora, Kelsey Gober, Alyssa Duffy, Rachel Dougherty, and Patrick Dougherty; and twelve great grandchildren.

A private service will be held and interment will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to South Abington "Rec" Park, PO Box 259, Chinchilla PA 18410.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, Clarks Summit.
