SGT. Josiah David Hricko, 22, of Nicholson passed away Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Fort Carson, Colorado.
SGT. Hricko was born in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania on May 26, 2000, and he is the son of Paul and Pamela Skiles Hricko.
He loved spending time in the outdoors, snowboarding, hiking, fishing, and kayaking. He enjoyed watching sports, and was an avid Penn State Football and Pittsburg Penguins fan. He had an infectious personality and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and often focused on lifting them up and pushing them forward. His drive and passion to better himself encouraged those around him to do the same, and his creativity and lightheartedness was inspiring and refreshing to all who knew him.
He entered the United States Army in August 2019. He arrived at Fort Carson in January 2020 and was assigned to the 569th Engineer Company, 4th Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade. His awards include the Army Commendation Medal (2nd Award), Army Achievement Medal (1st Award), Army Good Conduct Medal (1st Award), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Army Service Ribbon.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by siblings, Abigail, Charissa and husband Craig, Rebecca, Zachary and wife Montana, Hannah, Julia, Susanna, and Benjamin; paternal grandmother, Ann Marie; maternal grandmother, Evelyn; nieces, Esther and Sage Butler, Ivy and Wrenley Hricko.
He is preceded in death by brother, Micah; paternal grandfather, Robert Hricko; maternal grandfather, Odell Skiles.
Family and friends are invited to attend SGT. Hricko's funeral services which will be held on Wednesday February 8, 2023 at 11:00 AM from the LCBC Church, 607 N Abington Rd, Clarks Summit, PA 18411 with Mr. Don Catlett, presiding. Interment with full military honors will be held in, Cemetery of Our Mother, 412 PA-106, Greenfield Township, PA 18407.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday February 7, 2023 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock, PA 18657.
