Joyce Reese

Joyce Reese, 84, of Tunkhannock passed away Monday, June 15, 2026, at the Embassy of East Mountain, Wilkes-Barre. She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Walter Reese in 2022.

Born on May 10, 1942, in Reading, PA, she is the daughter of the late Earl and Carolyn (Babb) Lorah.

Joyce's professional journey was marked by a deep passion for nursing. She began her career as an emergency room nurse at Tyler Memorial Hospital. Her devotion to patient care continued as she later worked for Doctor Sherwood, providing skilled assistance and support. Additionally, Joyce extended her talents to the Geisinger healthcare system.

Joyce was known for her tender love of animals, especially her cherished dogs and cats. Her compassionate spirit was evident not only in her care for her beloved pets but also in her warm relationships with coworkers and patients.

She is survived by her daughter, Lorah Reese; son, Walter Reese, Jr. and wife Elizabeth; grandchildren, Lillianne, Wyatt, and Silas Reese.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their care of Joyce during this time.

Family and friends are invited to attend Joyce's graveside service which will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Sunnyside Cemetery, 152 Sunnyside Rd, Tunkhannock, PA 18657 with Pastor John Shaffer presiding.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joyce's memory can be made to Pattie's Waggin' Tails Senior Sanctuary, 408 Shadowbrook Drive, Tunkhannock, PA 18657 or an animal rescue of your choice.
