June O'Hearn

October 7, 1940 — January 8, 2024

It is with great sadness that our family announces the heavenly departure of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Sister. June M. O'Hearn, 83, of Tunkhannock passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center with her family by her side.

Born on October 7, 1940 in Scranton, she is the daughter of the late Walter and Mae (Koerner) Ketas.

She was a 1958 graduate of St. Mary's Assumption High School in Scranton.

June dedicated herself to a fulfilling career at Procter and Gamble as a Quality Control Engineer for an impressive span of 20 years. She was well known for bringing many jokes home from her working environment and shared them, when appropriate, in a most entertaining fashion. We will surely miss the laughter of such moments.

June was a meticulous homemaker and treated her cars the same way. She purchased a brand-new car every two years, like clockwork, from Sherwood Chevrolet. June was also a favorite patron of numerous Tunkhannock restaurants, and enjoyed her interaction with friendly staff. They will no doubt miss her, as we all will.

She took immense joy in attending all of her grandchildren's events, including baseball games, swim meets, ballet, musical and theatrical performances.

Traveling was another passion that brought immense delight to June's life. In her earlier years, she traveled extensively throughout the country, enjoying beaches, mountains, and making several trips to Hawaii. June gifted her entire family with trips to Ireland, where everyone had a marvelous time.

She was also a devoted member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. June had great faith in the power of prayer and was fond of saying the Rosary. Her faith gave her great strength when times were trying. She was a model of both strength and caring for her family; this will never be forgotten.

She is survived by daughters Margaret (Peggy) Schaefer and husband Stephen; Linda Hulslander and husband Tom; brother Joe Ketas and wife Maria; grandchildren Matthew Schaefer (and wife Anna Lebsock), Brendon Schaefer, Erin Antosh, Michael Antosh, and Conner Hulslander (and fiancée Abby Plocki); great-grandchildren Oliver and Martin Schaefer; ex-husband Paul O'Hearn and his partner Joanne Lindsey; nephews Thomas Ketas and his wife Jamie, Peter Ketas and his wife Kathy; great-nephew Matthew Ketas; great-nieces Morgan and Parker Ketas; and numerous loving friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 11:00AM from Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 99 E. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657 to be celebrated by Reverend Patrick Albert. A visitation will be held from 10:00AM until the time of mass on Saturday.
