Karen E. Jenkins MacMillan of South Abington Township and Baylors Lake passed away on Thursday at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton surrounded by her family. She was the widow of Thomas Jeffrey (Jeff) MacMillan, who died in June 2023. The couple had been married 58 years.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Arthur L. and Elizabeth "Betty" Green Jenkins. She was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and attended Hoytt School of Nursing. She worked for Scranton State School for the Deaf and, after raising her family, she was employed as an Educational Assistant at NEIU 19.
Karen loved shopping, finding a good bargain, reading, and playing games on her IPAD. She also enjoyed spending summers at Baylors Lake and winters in Florida. She was an avid Phillies fan and also enjoyed watching Penn State Football and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Family was the most important thing to Karen, wonderful memories were made spending time together around the table playing cards, catching up on life, and sharing stories about the past.
She is survived by daughters Susan Murray and husband Gerald of South Abington Township, and Tracey DeRosier and husband Michael of Doylestown; grandchildren Megan Murray and fiancé Patrick Foley of Conshohocken, Gerald Murray and wife Maria of Philadelphia, Andrew DeRosier and Tegan DeRosier, both of Doylestown; a brother, Arthur L. Jenkins, Jr. and his wife Amy of Gwynedd Valley; and three nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Monday at 12 noon at First Presbyterian Church of Clarks Summit, 300 School Street, with services by Rev. Bill Carter. Interment will follow at Dunmore Cemetery.
Friends may pay their respects at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit, from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Chinchilla Hose Company.
