Katherine Hopkins

Katherine S. Hopkins, Clarks Summit, passed away surrounded by family Wednesday evening at Elan Skilled Nursing & Rehab in Scranton. She was the widow of Kenneth Henry Hopkins, who died in 2017. The couple had been married 49 years.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary Haak Stoodley. She was a graduate of Penn State University in 1966 and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Clarks Summit. Prior to retirement, she worked for Allied Services.

Surviving are her three sons; Robert Douglas and his companion Mardi Moore of Meshoppen, James Lawrence of State College, and Thomas Jeffrey and his wife Kathryn McDermott of Austin, TX; three grandchildren: Paulie, Madison, and Hazel; great grandchild, Elena; and sisters Mary Ellen Kennedy of Erie and Carol Richards of Miami, FL.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Ann Teets.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 27th, at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Clarks Summit, 300 School Street, with services by Rev. William Carter, pastor. Friends may pay their respects at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Newton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Norton Fund, c/o First Presbyterian Church of Clarks Summit, 300 School Street, Clarks Summit, 18411.
