Listen to Obituary

Kay Zeidler White of Glenburn, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lorenz J. Zeidler (the former Mildred Hendrickson), died peacefully in the comforts of her home, surrounded by her loved ones, Sunday evening.

Born in Scranton, Kay attended Central High School and received a business degree from Lackawanna Business College. After graduating, she worked at her family's business, Eureka Specialty Printing Company. In March of 1963, she married Arthur E. White (1921-1978) of Dalton, settling in Glenburn, with their family.

Kay was a vibrant and elegant woman, an avid golfer and bridge player, and a diligent solver of daily Crossword and Wordle puzzles. She was an accomplished needlepointer and knitter, creating many "Kay Mae Originals" for family and friends, as well as a lover of music. She sang and played the organ in many community shows. She was the founding member of "The Point of It All", Lake Winola, where she spent every summer on the porch with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her furry "pal" Charlotte.

Kay was the oldest living female member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Scranton, active for over 83 years. She was also a member of the Country Club of Scranton, Waverly Country Club, the Lake Winola Cottagers' Association, Junior League of Scranton, and the Waverly Women's Club. Kay's involvement in the community was nothing short of remarkable.

In addition to her husband and parents, Kay was preceded in death by her son Gary, grandsons Alexander and Arthur, sister Gretchen Miller (Richard), and niece Heidi M. Crawford.

She is survived by her children Laurie White Gumula (Les), Gayle Bichler (David), Greg White (Diane), her grandchildren Brandon (Jess), Heather, Elizabeth, Ethan, Nicholas, Courtney, and her great grandchildren Jason, Bailey, Grace, Brady, Brooks, and Jack.

A private graveside service was held at Hickory Grove Cemetery, Waverly, PA.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 1 pm - 4 pm at the Waverly Country Club.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kay and Art White Scholarship Fund, Scranton Shakespeare Festival (PO Box 20116, Scranton, PA 18502), Covenant Presbyterian Church (550 Madison Ave.  Scranton, PA 18510), Shriners Hospitals for Children (2900 Rocky Point Drive Tampa, FL 33607) or a charity near and dear to your heart.
