Lance Wintermute

Lance Harold Wintermute, 83, of Forkston Twp. passed away Sunday, May 18, 2025 at Geisinger Community Medical Center.

Born on November 23, 1941 in Eatonville, he is the son of the late Harold and Alice (Sands) Wintermute.

Lance honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he dedicated many years to his community as a milk truck driver, a role he continued until the age of 74.

He was a devoted member of the Mehoopany Baptist Church. Lance attended services faithfully throughout his life. He was a familiar face each morning at the Mehoopany Dandy, where he enjoyed his daily cup of coffee and the company of friends and neighbors.

Lance spent his life on the family hay farm, surrounded by his sister, Jan Wintermute; nephew, Ricky Kuder; great-nieces, Danielle and Elizabeth Kuder; great-nephew, Cameron Kuder all of Forkston Twp.

He is also survived by his sisters, Carole Davis and Robin Woodcock (Charles); brother, Neal Wintermute (Linda); many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Wintermute; brother-in-law, Richard Davis.

Lance will be remembered as a kind and gentle man. He had an unmatched work ethic. His devotion to family, faith, and his warm presence in the community will be remembered fondly. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

His family would like to thank all of the EMS responders, doctors, nurses, and the hospital Chaplin, who helped him gently cross the bridge to eternal peace.

Family and friends are invited to attend Lance's funeral services which will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at 3:00 PM from the Mehoopany Baptist Church, 4301 PA-87, Mehoopany, PA 18629 with Pastor Nick Graves presiding followed by full military honors. Interment will be held privately in Forkston Cemetery.

A viewing will be held from 2:00 PM until the time of service on Wednesday.
