Larry A. Holgate, 64, of Nicholson passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday evening after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Boyd Irwin and Mary Jane Zrowka Holgate. Graduate of Lackawanna Trail High School, he spent most of his career self-employed as a successful businessman of several companies. He was the owner of Endless Waste Solutions for nearly 30 years. In 2009, Larry began working and consulting for Linde Corporation in Business Development providing pathways and new opportunities for the company. He also served as a commercial and corporate pilot for Linde Corp. He was a co-owner of JLS Leasing and instrumental in reopening the Carbondale Rail Facility providing Transload services to the gas industry and various local manufacturing businesses.
Larry was a beloved husband, father, papa and friend. He enjoyed caring for and spending time on his beautiful property with his family, especially his precious grandchildren. He was a great teacher of hunting, fishing and flying. He was an avid outdoorsman and wildlife enthusiast dedicated to passing on his knowledge to everyone around him, particularly his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Jane (White). The couple have been married for 42 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two beloved daughters, Heidi Tabaszewski and her husband Albert of Connecticut, and Holly Colvin and her husband James of Factoryville; four grandchildren, Lucas and Camden Tabaszewski and Madalyn and Peyton Colvin.
Larry leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work and cherished memories. He will be missed beyond measure.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Nicholson or Fleetville Fire Companies.
Friends and family may pay their respects on Sunday from 1pm to 3pm at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit.
