Lee B. Walter, 78, of Clarks Summit, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday evening. He entered eternity peacefully while surrounded by family at home. His widow is Joann Walter. The couple have been married for 57 years.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Carl W. and Ruth L. Klatt Walter. He attended Scranton Central High School and worked in the banking industry for 43 years. During that time he worked his way up from Teller to Bank President. He served on the board of directors for both Youth for Christ and I.A.M. "Individual Abilities in Motion." He was a member of Evangelical Free Bible Church and will be remembered as a lifelong Penn State fan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons David Walter and his wife Michelle of Archbald and Dan Walter and his wife Lori of Newton Township; daughter Rebecca Reno and husband Jeff of Columbia, Missouri; grandchildren Amanda Walter of Williamsport, Emily Meyer and husband Brandon of Pittsburgh, Tyler and Zach Walter of Newton Township, and Bennett and Cooper Reno of Columbia, Missouri; and sister-in-law Mary Walter.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Walter.
The family would like to acknowledge and say a special thank you to his longtime aide, Ruth.
A funeral will be held on Saturday, March 8th at 11a.m. at Evangelical Free Bible Church, 431 Carbondale Road, South Abington Township, with services by Pastor Mike Measley. Interment will be in the Dunmore Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Friends may pay their respects to the family on Friday, March 7th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to I.A.M. (Individual Abilities in Motion), 107 Commons Dr., Olyphant, PA 18447 or Youth for Christ,1613 Jackson St, Scranton, PA 18504.
