Leila E. Miles beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend was carried home in the loving arms of her Heavenly Father August 22.
Born the third of six children to Bernard and Beatrice Antoine White, she enjoyed a wonderful marriage of more than 74 years with her beloved husband, David E. Miles, until his passing in 2021.
Leila is lovingly remembered by her four children, whom she raised to walk in Christian faith: Ronald Miles (married to Constance), Marilyn Stracham (married to William), Susan Miller (married to Scott), and Arline Bell. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
She is also survived by her dear sisters, Ruth Hewett and Charlotte Caruso.
Family was at the center of Leila's life. She cherished Christmas gatherings and reunions. She loved to read, laugh and play games. A lover of words and friendly competition, she especially enjoyed Scrabble and Pinochle. Her favorite quote was: "After God, love is the most important thing in life."
Throughout her life, Leila faithfully served her church and community. She taught Sunday School, led both Boy and Girl Scouts, and was active in Christian Women's Club, serving as an officer. As a dedicated member of the Gideons Auxiliary International, she held several offices. She was also a faithful member of Parker Hill Community Church (now LCBC) and the Prime Time Bible Study group. Professionally, she worked at Scranton Dry Goods and J.C. Penney
