Lester W. Driesbaugh, 72, of Clarks Summit died on Wednesday at Allied Hospice, Scranton. He was surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness.
Born in Scranton, but raised in Clarks Summit, he was the son of the late Lester L. and Martha Michalik Driesbaugh. He was a graduate of Abington Heights High School. Prior to retirement, he was employed at The Country Club of Scranton where he worked for many years.
Lester got his start at The Country Club of Scranton by working as a caddy at a young age. During his tenure his role expanded to the Pro Shop, and onto his most recent role as the Men's Locker Room Manager for many years. He loved the game of golf, and spent every day surrounded by one of his life's passions.
As a golfer, he enjoyed playing the many courses in the area. He would make frequent trips in the winter months to Florida where he enjoyed golfing with friends and making lasting memories during every trip.
A lover of nature and animals, it was not uncommon to see Lester outside in his garden during the summer months. His love of nature was shown through his beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. He took pride in the many animals who would visit his yard and made sure his outdoor haven was a safe place for all of nature.
Lester was known as "Unk" to his family. A title given to him by his nieces and nephews in which he embraced wholeheartedly. He was one of a kind and will always be loved deeply by those who knew him.
Surviving are brothers Richard Driesbaugh (Patricia), Andrew Driesbaugh (Linda), and sister Ann Marie Scoda, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Ronald Driesbaugh, Timothy Driesbaugh and sister; Mary Kay Driesbaugh.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Church of Saint Benedict, 1849 Newton-Ransom Blvd., Clarks Summit, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pocono Wildlife, 1161 Cherry Dr, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
