Listen to Obituary

Linda McDonnell, of South Abington Twp., was carried in the arms of Jesus, her savior, to her heavenly home on October 17th. Linda was born on February 13, 1970, in Moosic, PA, to George and Joan Sibley. She attended Riverside High School and graduated with honors from Albright College and Boston University. She was well known as a kind-hearted individual who was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Linda had a successful career as an Occupational Therapist at Moses Taylor and Mid-Valley Hospitals. Her immense compassion for the geriatric population was the source of her inspiration. Later, she would launch her own business as a Christian Health Coach, further continuing her pursuit of assisting others. Linda's dedication to her profession and her passion for helping others will be remembered by all who knew her.

In her free time, Linda enjoyed spending time with family and friends, long walks, playing golf and tennis. These hobbies brought her joy and allowed her to stay active and connected with her loved ones. She especially loved playing backyard wiffle ball and touch-football with her son Matthew.

Linda was also a "momcologist." In this role, she fiercely advocated for her son as he battled an aggressive form of pediatric cancer for the majority of his life. During this difficult period, Linda and Matthew created a non-profit organization dedicated to ending pediatric cancer. Witnessing the horrors of pediatric cancer first hand, Linda knew that she had to do everything in her power to help these families. The charity continues to raise funds today for pediatric cancer research as well as providing financial aid to local families battling cancer.

Linda will be deeply missed by her surviving family members, including her husband and soul-mate Patrick McDonnell, the light of her life, her son Matthew McDonnell, Mother-in-law Joyce McDonnell, Father-in law Patrick McDonnell Sr., Sister-in-law Michele Minelli, Brother-in-law Joseph Minelli, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Joan Sibley.

Friends may call on Sunday, October 22, 2023, from 1-4 PM at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 South State Street, Clarks Summit, PA. A memorial service to celebrate Linda's life will be held on Monday, October 23 at 10 am at LCBC, 607 North Abington Road, Clarks Summit.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Linda's memory can be made to Linda and Matthew's charity, Matthew's Hope 4 Miracles. The success and impact of this organization was held close to her heart.

Linda's legacy of kindness and her dedication to helping others will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and friend.
