Louis Eric "Rick" DeVirgilis, of Clarks Summit, passed away after a short illness on Monday evening October 23rd at Scranton's Geisinger CMC.
Born in Scranton in 1942, he was the son of the late Lewis and Ethel Borne DeVirgilis. Before enlisting in the US Air Force he attended Scranton Central High School. In 1963, he co-founded D & D Motors which he continued to operate for many years. He also was an avid antiques enthusiast and dealer, specializing in oriental militaria and numerous other antiquities. Other hobbies and pursuits were many, including hunting, fishing, and traveling.
Surviving are two sons, Eric Christian DeVirgilis of Scott Township and Alex Thomas DeVirgilis of Raleigh, North Carolina; a sister, Jeanne DeVirgilis of Clarks Green; and several cousins.
His long-time loving companion, Eleanor Samojlowicz, preceded him in death in July 2022. They shared many years together exploring mutual interests and adventures, living their lives to the fullest and enjoying wonderful family and friends.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the doctors and staff at Geisinger CMC and Geisinger 65 Forward, and also to the very kind, amazing staff at the Clarks Summit Senior Living Center where he happily resided most recently. Also, a very special thanks to his cherished friends, Dr. Dan Coster and Ms. Susan Rice.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, they suggest that memorial donations be made to the donor's favorite charity.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 South State Street, Clarks Summit.
