Lubov "Lovie" Swingle, 100, of South Abington Township passed away at Abington Manor on the morning of November 5, 2024.  She was the widow of Floyd B. Swingle who preceded her in death on August 10, 1983.

Born in Wood, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Stephanie (Rydzanycz) Basalyga.  Lovie was a 1941 graduate of Scranton Technical High School and was married to Floyd on October 22, 1945 in Elkton, Md.  She was a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Greek Catholic Church and the Altar Society. Prior to her retirement at 89 years old, Lovie worked alongside her sister Delores and brother-in-law Donald Naglak at the family store, Don's Market on Winola Road and was known and loved by everyone in the Abington community.

Surviving are a daughter Evelyn Reese; grandsons Eric (Tamsen), Scott (Lori), and Chad (Michele) Reese, Brian (Jessica) and Roger (Dawn) Swingle; great grandchildren Alessandra, Hunter, Kyra, Cole, Travis, James, Gineva, Dawson, Benjamin, Parker, Thomas, and Delana; sister Sonja (Stephen) Fueshko; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Floyd B. Swingle Jr.; brothers John, Frank, Peter, Joseph, and Russell; sisters Eva Basalyga, Olga Dzbinski, Ann Pivovarnik, Daria Schuster, Mary Kneiss, and Delores Naglak; and son-in-law James Reese.

Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 am at St. Nicholas Orthodox Greek Catholic Church, 505 Jefferson Avenue, Scranton, Pa by Fr. Mark Leasure. Those attending should go directly to the church. Interment will follow at Abington Hills Cemetery. Friends and family may pay their respects on Sunday from 3 – 6  pm at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 South State Street, Clarks Summit.

The family would like to thank the great staff at Abington Manor for their excellent care of Lovie for the past 4 years.
