Maria Thompson

Maria Thompson of Clarks Summit, PA unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday.

Born in Scranton, PA, she was the daughter of the late John Roy Thompson and Mary Ann DeCicco. Maria was the owner and operator of Thompson Northeast Insurance and Northeast Title and Tag. She spent most of her career working alongside her father, building Northeast Title & Tag location by location and pioneering the industry as one of the original appointed Statewide Online Messengers. Eventually, Maria purchased the business from her father and developed it into the largest Title & Tag agency throughout the State.

Maria was an active community member, volunteering for many organizations, including the Parks & Rec at her second home in Fort Myers, Florida. She was also a member of The Church of Saint Benedict.

Besides being a part-time TikTok influencer, Maria loved jewelry and painting. In her younger years, she was a talented singer, performing as a backup to one of the world's most famous Elvis impersonators, Shawn Klush. An extraordinary businesswoman, Maria had a heart even bigger than her talents; she loved everyone and always had a smile on her face. Her door was always open, and she was always there for her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Joseph Thompson Grasso, and his wife, Aileen, of Clarks Summit; her daughter, Marissa Thompson Grasso, of Clarks Summit; her grandchildren, Giavana Maria and Giuliana Grace; her brother, Sean Thompson, of Clarks Summit; her aunts, Rosemary Thompson, Suzanne Drumsta, and Anita Wilbur; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Cara Bella.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 am at The Church of Saint Benedict, 1849 Newton Ransom Blvd, Clarks Summit, PA. Friends and family may pay their respects on Monday from 5 pm to 7 pm at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 South State Street, Clarks Summit.
