Marie Ann Potkulski Buranich, born June 18, 1930, died Thursday, May 25, 2023, at home surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Sam Buranich.
Born in Taylor, daughter of the late Anthony and Blanche Fialkiewicz Potkulski, she was a member of St. Michael's Orthodox Church of Old Forge. A graduate of Scranton Tech High School, she spent her life as a homemaker raising six beautiful daughters. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother. She will be remembered for her loving spirit and spunk.
Surviving are six daughters, Marie Buranich, Newton; Shirley Barry and her husband, Robert, Newton; Diane Buranich, Newton; Nancy Frear and her husband, Theodore, Lake Winola; Beverly Birch and her husband, Sidney, Clarks Summit; and Judith Anderson and her husband, Jeremy, Newton; 10 grandchildren, Kathleen, Erin, Bridgette Sakar and Peter Barry, Theodore II and Samantha Frear, Sandon, Quentin and Harrison Birch, Jacob and Lincoln Anderson. Also surviving is her sister, Caroline Golembeski, Scranton. The family would like to give special thanks to Deb Doran for her kind care.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Anthony Potkulski; and her sister, Clara Allen.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 27, at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Orthodox Church, 512 Summer St., Old Forge, PA 18518, with services by the Rev. Michael Shepherd. Interment will follow at Milwaukee Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday at 9 a.m. until time of service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Michael's Orthodox Church, 512 Summer St., Old Forge, PA 18518.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
