Marilyn James, 90, of Scott Township, died on Saturday at St. Mary's Villa, Elmhurst Township. She was the widow of Harold James, who died in 1988.

Born in Blakely, she was the daughter of the late Llewellyn and Louise Stanton Evans. Marilyn was a graduate of Scott High School and once worked as a waitress at the Scranton Dry Tea Room as a young woman. She was a faith-filled Christian and a member of Grace Bible Church, Dunmore.

She was a past President of the Scranton Chapter of The Christian Women's Club.

She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed making beautiful clothes for herself, her mother, and her daughters. She was an excellent homemaker and a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and she will be deeply missed.

Surviving are daughters Joni Mecca and husband Charles of Clarks Green and Debra Sokolowski and husband Ted of Lake Ariel; grandson Timothy Sokolowski of Clarks Summit; brother Llewellyn Evans of New York; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Evans.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit. Interment will follow at Mt. Bethel Cemetery, Clarks Summit.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Donations may be made in Marilyn's honor to The Salvation Army or The Griffin Pond Animal Shelter in Clarks Summit.
