Marion E. Naylor

Marion Yates Naylor, of Meshoppen, died on May 31, 2017 at the Meadows Nursing Center in Dallas, PA. Born on April 24, 1926, in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Lillian Pratt Yates. Marion was a graduate of Central High School, Scranton; Keystone College, LaPlume; and Pennsylvania State University, State College. She was an instructor in the Business Department at Keystone following her graduation from Penn State. She was a substitute teacher for six years at Elk Lake School District, became certified as an elementary teacher and taught 23 years at Elk Lake in 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. She is survived by her children: Karen Narvol of Harrisburg, Alan and Elizabeth Naylor, Brian and Carolette Naylor, and Duane and Sherri Naylor of Meshoppen; ten grandchildren; and many great grandchildren. Marion was a member of the Springville Baptist Church and its Missionary Society, Meshoppen Friendship Club, Meshoppen Chapter 70 Order of the Eastern Star, Lower Wyoming Valley Tyler Hospital Auxiliary, and the Susquehanna County Retired Teachers Association. She was also secretary and president of the former Meshoppen Women's Club and secretary of the Wyoming County Women's Club. Marion served at local disasters and blood drives for the Red Cross, volunteered at Tyler Memorial Hospital where she was recognized for her 5000 volunteer hours, and worked at the Wyoming County Fair for many years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother to her family. The funeral will be held at the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga Street, Tunkhannock, on Saturday June 3, 2017 at 10AM. Burial will take place in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Dalton.
