Marlene Joan Kapalko, 84, of Clarks Summit, died on July 8th following a sudden illness. She was the widow of Vincent Quirk, who died in 2001.

She grew up in Dickson City and was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Smargiassi. She was predeceased by her brother, Ronald Smargiassi.

Marlene is survived by her son Joseph; daughter Susan Adams and her husband Scott; and grandchildren Nicholas, Matthew, and Joshua Adams.

She was a great friend, a wonderful mother, and a loving grandmother. We're fortunate to have had her in our lives.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 14th at Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 South State Street, Clarks Summit. Interment will follow at St. Francis Cemetery, Eynon. Friends may pay their respects prior to the mass from 8:30 am to 9:45 am at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 South State Street, Clarks Summit.
