Mary I. Donvito, Clarks Summit, passed away on Sunday afternoon at Geisinger CMC. She was the widow of Frank Donvito, who died in 1973.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Mary O'Neil Ginger. Prior to retirement she worked at Marworth. She was a member of Our Lady of the Snows church and the VFW Abington Memorial Post. Earlier she enjoyed her days at the Summit Diner where she would catch up with friends. She loved animals, especially her longtime companion Jasper-Casper who gave her much love for at least 20 years.
Mary was a loving mother and grandparent survived by two daughters, Marie (Tina) Pawelzik and her husband Walter, Factoryville and Bernadette Schoukroun, Maryland, a son Frank Anthony Donvito, and wife MaryJo, Exeter; a brother Paul Ginger, Scranton; a sister Ethel Parry, Peckville; grandchildren: Tiffany Harper and husband Richard, Walter Frank and wife Jessica Pawelzik, Tyler Pawelzik and Kelly, Tayler Pawelzik Maybin and husband Ross, Lauren Schoukroun-Barnes and husband Eric , Joshua and Nicole Donvito; great-grandchildren: Lauren, cole, Brooke, kara, Dylan and Christian Harper, madison and Kiya schoukroun-Barnes, Margo and Mavis Pawelzik, and Blake Maybin.
The family would like to express our sincere thanks to the medical staff at Geisinger CMC Hospital and Allied Skilled and Rehabilitation Services for their amazing care of our mother.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday at 9:30AM at Our Lady of the Snows Church. Interment will follow in Abington Hills Cemetery.
Family and friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Rd, Clarks Summit.
