Mary Anne Wallen

Mary Anne Wallen, 82, died on November 18th at her home in Clarks Summit. She was the wife of Edward Wallen, Jr. The couple were married 60 years.

Born in Middle Village, New York, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Hodnik. She graduated from St. Michael's Academy in Manhattan and St. John's University in Queens, NY.

She was an avid gardener with a special gift. Every seed, cutting or plant grew bigger and brighter under her care.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters Elizabeth Wallen of New York, NY and Catherine Guzzi and husband Robert of Glenburn; her surrogate grandchildren Sean, Kevin, and Erin Albright; nieces Susie, Jessica, Jennifer, and Pamela; nephews Robert, Christopher and David; sister in-law Maureen Hodnik.

She was preceded in death by brothers Joseph and Robert Hodnik; nephew Joseph Hodnik; and sister-in-law Rita Hodnik.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. at Church of St. Benedict, 1849 Newton-Ransom Blvd., Clarks Summit with services by the Msgr. Joseph G. Quinn, pastor. Friends may pay their respects at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Allied Hospice, 511 Morgan Highway, Scranton, PA  18508.
