Matthew D. Thomas

Matthew D. Thomas, 72, of Newton Township, died on Tuesday at Allied Hospice, Scranton. He is survived by Donna Holley Thomas, his wife of 46 years. He was a loving husband and father.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Matthew and Shirley Reese Thomas. He was a graduate of Abington Heights and, prior to retirement, was employed by Cascade Tissue. Matt was a member of VFW Post 7069 and the Taurus Club. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool, and especially his beagle, Dolly.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son Matthew Thomas and wife Chrissy; daughter Holly Thomas and companion Peter; grandchildren Jacob, Peter, Samantha, and Luna; and two nieces.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry, and a nephew John.

Friends may pay their respects on Saturday from 5 pm to 7 pm at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
