Max R. Wahren, 96, South Abington Township, died on Saturday at Abington Manor. His wife of over 64 years is the former Charlotte Moncofsky.

Born in Hawley, PA, he was the son of the late Hugo and Elisa Hanf Wahren. He was a graduate of Hawley High School. Max was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving with 62nd Signal Battalion in PTO in Japan with occupation forces and received a WW2 Victory Medal.

After his honorable discharge from the military, he graduated from Bliss Academy, Silver Springs, MD and worked for 42 years in the Scranton office of AT&T Long Lines Dept. A founding member of the Hawley Gun Club, he was also an avid clay target shooter and enjoyed outdoor activities and the comradeship of many friends past and present.

He was preceded in death by a brother Hugo and sisters Martha Bilard and Gertrude Schardt.

He is survived by his wife, son Christopher Wahren, brother-in-law Joseph Moncofsky, and nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Clarks Summit.
