Michael Joseph Loy, 67, of Tunkhannock passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at St. Luke's Hospital, Monroe Campus. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Maureen (Coleman) Loy.

Born on December 29, 1958, in Freeport, NY, he is the son of the late William and Barbara (Holub) Loy and stepmother, Kathleen Loy.

He was a 1977 graduate of Central Islip High School. Mike pursued higher education and earned his Associate's degree in Business Management from Luzerne County Community College. Shortly after graduation from high school, he answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. From 1977 until 1981, he served honorably as an Avionics Technician.

Mike was most recently employed as a realtor with Century 21 and Hibble Harris Real Estate. He was an active member of the Wyoming Valley Real Estate Association.

He was greatly loved as a husband, father, and grandfather. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them, especially his grandchildren. His interests extended to finance and the stock markets, areas where he applied his keen analytical skills. Mike also found joy in working on computers. He found pleasure in gaming, particularly in titles such as "Forge of Empires" and "Mahjong." Additionally, he collected Hot Wheels and old coins. He also liked doing projects around the house and was known as our very own "Mr. Fix It!" Additionally, his favorite words and sayings were "whatever" and "It's alright."

He was a loving husband to Maureen, known not only as her devoted partner but also as her skilled hair colorist over many years, a unique talent that became a special bond between them. Together, they embarked on countless adventures, creating memories that were a source of joy throughout their life. Michael took great pride in owning a Triumph Spitfire, a car that held a special place in his heart, and he delighted in sharing captivating stories from his past that could hold an audience spellbound for hours.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Michael Loy and wife Ciandra D'Souza; daughter, Mikalyn Cortright and husband Eric; sisters, Cheryl Cuomo (Steven), Susie Loy; brother, William Loy; brothers-in-law, Fred Coleman (Rosemary), Thomas Coleman (Barbara), Patrick Coleman (Marie); grandchildren, Eric Cassellbury, Elijah Cortright, Nevaeh Cortright; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by brother-in-law, Steven Cuomo.

Family and friends are invited to attend Mike's funeral services which will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 1:00 PM from the Marcho, Sheldon, and Kukuchka Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 73 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock, PA 18657 with Father Paul Towers presiding. Interment will be held in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock with full military honors.

A viewing will be held from 12:00 PM until the time of service on Tuesday.
