Michael Edward Suprick, Sr., 90, of Ransom Township, died Monday at Geisinger – Scranton holding the hand of his devoted wife of almost 69 years, the former Jane Ann Winters.
Born in Bronx, NY, he was a veteran Staff Sergeant of the United States Army, at the age of 19, serving in the Korean War. He was sole-owner of Mike's Scrap Recycling and also worked other various jobs. He could do anything from driving tractor trailers to recapping tires to large equipment sales. He was a lifetime member of Countryside Community Church, Newton Township.
Mike's greatest loves were his wife and family. He loved to travel, but his brightest smile would be seen when he was with his loved ones, especially the babies! His greatest joy was visiting with all the babies in the family and seeing their smiles.
He was a devoted church member and loved to show up to church 45 minutes early so everyone can greet him with a kiss as they walked in. He was also a member of the Free Masons. He shared the same passion as his oldest son, Michael, of fishing for halibut in Alaska and loved being surrounded by the breathtaking scenery. He had the knack for knowing when someone was in need and would always help them to find a meal and offer them a job.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter-in-law Deborah Suprick; son Jerry Suprick and wife Vonette; daughters Cora Samsock and husband Charlie, and Sandy Murphy and husband Joseph; grandchildren Michael Suprick III, Elizabeth White, Robert Suprick, Jennifer Phillips, Charlie Samsock, Jr., Jason Samsock, Alea Helmick, Aislinn Turner, and Ariel Henes; nineteen great grandchildren (and one more on the way); two great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sons Curtis Suprick and Michael Suprick, Jr.; and grandchildren Curtis Jr., Justin, Vanessa, Lauren, and Gisela.
A funeral will be held at Countryside Community Church, 14011 Orchard Drive, Newton Twp., on Thursday at 11 a.m., with services by the Rev. James Hollister. Interment with military honors will follow at Abington Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Countryside Community Church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 South State Street, Clarks Summit.
