Listen to Obituary

Mildred "Millie" Ann Sossong Capwell of Clarks Summit died surrounded by loved ones on December 24th at Geisinger Wyoming Valley. She was the widow of Lloyd T. Capwell, who preceded her in death in 2005.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Helen Yasinskas Sossong. She was a 1960 graduate of West Scranton High School and a 1963 graduate of Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. She worked in local hospitals and as a private duty nurse for over forty years. She was dedicated to helping others, but her greatest joy was the love of her grandchildren and family. She was committed to her faith and her church and enjoyed spending time with her UMW friends.

She is survived by her children: Matt and wife Niki, Dunmore; daughter Jennifer (Capwell) Lockhart and husband Bill, Exeter, and Nickie (Stoker) Russell, Newport, RI; and six grandchildren: Cassie (Lockhart) and husband Tad McDonnell, Cole Capwell and wife Carly, Emory Lloyd Capwell, Katie "Russ" Russell, Daniel Russell, and Jessie Russell.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two infant children, her brother Francis Paul "Butch" Sossong, and her beloved nephew Bill Sossong.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Clarks Green United Methodist Church, with services by Pastor Adam Miller. Interment will be at a later date in Shady Lane Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 5 pm on Monday at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit.
