Nancy Rucinski

Our beloved Nancy N. Rucinski, 74, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 19, 2024, at the Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 37 years, Robert Rucinski.

Born on June 22, 1949, in Nanticoke, she is the daughter of Shirley (Evarts) and Carl Atherton. 

Nancy dedicated her career to caregiving as a private duty home health aide and in personal care homes, retiring in 2013.However, nothing could compare to her profound love for her family, Nancy was always ready to offer a shoulder to cry on, open her home, and lovingly call out her family's nonsense. Her favorite pastimes included teaching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to cook and sew, playing mahjong on her iPad, and feeding the birds.

As we say goodbye to Nancy, let us hold close to the memories and the love she shared, which continue to inspire and guide us.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Marcie Ross and husband Michael, Allen Vietz, Jr. and wife Stephanie, Melissa Lasher and husband Theodore; 10 grandchildren, Michael, Sarah, Jesse, Angela, Kimberly, Jason, Madyson, Theordore II, Keirstin, Megan; 13 great grandchildren; her cherished cat, Sissy.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Carol Pagana, and her father, Carl Atherton.

Family and friends are invited to attend Nancy's funeral service which will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 11:00AM from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock, PA 18657.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM from the funeral home.
