Neil John Bartholme, 79, of Newton Township died Saturday at Allied Skilled Nursing, Scranton. He was the husband of the late Carol Ann Huggler Bartholme. The couple had been married 57 years before her death in 2018.
Born in Newton Township, he was the son of the late Paul Raymond and Iva Jane Klipple Bartholme. He was a 1961 graduate of Newton-Ransom High School, a 43-year member of the Masons, a 50+ year member of the Scranton Co-Op Farmers Market, and a lifetime member of Countryside Community Church. Neil worked 25 years at Wyoming Sand and Stone Company and, prior to retirement, another 23 years as Clarks Summit Borough Manager. He also worked the family farm as his second full-time job, for his entire life.
Neil loved being outdoors, hunting, farming, and tinkering in the garage. He also enjoyed all of his friends in the farming community and in the Clarks Summit Borough, they always put a smile on his face. He loved working on his farm equipment and would prefer a new tractor over a new vehicle any day. However, recently he announced that he wanted a new blue Plymouth! Neil was also known for his hearing problems, but we will never know the extent of those issues because his hearing was also very selective. He will be missed by his children and grandchildren.
Surviving is a son Neil Bartholme and fiancee Tami, Dalton; daughter Natalie Lomeo and husband Sam, Dalton; grandchildren Sammy, Devin, and Ariana; great-granddaughter AnniBella; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James Bartholme, and sister Demaris Archibald, and brother-in-law Warren Archibald.
A special thank you to all Neil's caregivers at Clarks Summit Senior Living, Allied Skilled Nursing, and Dr. Michael Kondash.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family and arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, PA.
