Patricia J. Gillis

TUNKHANNOCK — Patricia Joyce Novak Gillis, 73, of Tunkhannock, passed away at home, on Monday, Feb. 16, 2015. ​Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, on March 29, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Novak. Over the years Patricia was employed at the Wyoming County Courthouse, Bennie's Nursery and the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church. ​Family members will sadly miss and forever remember Patricia as a warm and loving woman with a kind and gentle heart. She loved baking and cooking, and it was at Pat's table that family and friends came to appreciate her love for cooking. Pat loved animals very much, especially her doberman, Damien, and cat, Samantha. She was an avid cross stitcher and gardener. Pat also enjoyed traveling, especially to the Outer Banks, with her life long friend, Leona. ​She was an active member of the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church, and belonged to the Past Matrons of the Order of the Eastern Star, Women of the Moose, Chapter 1068, and the West Side Social Club. ​Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Gillis; sister-in-laws, Marie Gogel and Mercedes McGlynn; and brother-in-law, Phil Gogel. ​Surviving her are her brother-in-law, John McGlynn Sr.; niece, Nadine McGlynn; niece, Colleen McAndrew and her spouse, John; nephew, John McGlynn Jr.; nephew and godson, Michael McGlynn and his spouse, Rainey; niece, Meredith McGlynn; nephews, Stewart Gogel and his spouse, Tracy, Howard Gogel and his spouse Rosa; niece, Cindy Gogel-Schefflin; and several great-nieces and nephews. ​Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church, with Pastor Jon Buxton officiating. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Saturday in the church. Service by the Eastern Star Tunkhannock Chapter 74 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held at Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock. Arrangements by Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W.
