Paul Milnes

Paul Milnes, 78, of Tunkhannock passed away Sunday, March 31, 2024 at home. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Diane (Jones) Milnes.

Born on July 7, 1945 in Saginaw, MI, he is the son of the late George and Carmen (Greene) Milnes.

In 1963, Paul proudly graduated from Northeast Bradford High School before embarking on his academic journey at Penn State University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.

Throughout his career, Paul made substantial contributions that resonated within the Department of Environmental Resources and Milnes Engineering, Construction, and Survey. His expertise and hard work laid the foundation for innovative projects that continue to make a difference today.

He was particularly fond of adventure, especially sailing, which allowed him to explore the Seneca Lake. Additionally, his trips to Hungary to harvest grapes reflected his love for travel and appreciation of different cultures.

One of Paul's proudest accomplishments came after his retirement when he established Sugar Hollow Vineyard. With over 6,000 vines under his care, he poured his heart into cultivating a thriving business. His partnership with Nimble Hill not only showcased the quality of his grapes but also elevated the local grape-growing industry thanks to his pioneering efforts.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Adam Milnes and wife Julie; granddaughter, Hazel Milnes; sister-in-law's, Carole, Marjorie, Ada Milnes, Jacquelyn Lawrence, Susan Jones; brother-in-law's, Ronald Lawrence, Leo Jones; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by brothers, Thomas, Carl, Gene Milnes; sister, Marcia Platts.

Family and friends are invited to attend Paul's memorial service which will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 2:00PM from the Russell Hill United Methodist Church, 3 Prevost Road, Tunkhannock, PA 18657 with Rev. Ronald Folk presiding.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the charity of one's choice or Russell Hill United Methodist Church, 3 Prevost Road, Tunkhannock, PA 18657
