Phyllis M. Dolsen Watkins

Phyllis M. Dolsen Watkins, Clarks Summit, died on Tuesday at Regional Hospital, Scranton. She was the widow of Warren Watkins, her husband of 68 years until his death in 2022.

Born and raised in Maplewood, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Philip H. Dolsen and Lois Walker Dolsen. She graduated from Columbia High School and Westminster College with a degree in Psychology.

She is survived by daughters Betsy Warburton and Amy Watkins; granddaughter Alicia Kinney and her husband Patrick; and great grandchildren Zack, Zoey & Andrew Kinney.

Phyllis was a Life Scout in Girl Scouts USA and was part of four generations of girl scouting  as a scout actively involved for almost 50 years. She taught Sunday School for many years and sang in the Clarks Green United Methodist Church Choir and played in the handbell choir for over 30 years. She was a CMC volunteer, giving over 10,000 hours of her time mostly in the Emergency Room. She was a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow and received the Rotary 4-Way Test award for many years of welcoming new naturalized citizens at the Federal Courthouse ceremonies.

A funeral will be held on Monday, June 5th at 2 p.m. at Clarks Green Methodist Church, 119 Glenburn Road, Clarks Green with service by Rev. Jim Hollister. Interment to follow at Clarks Green Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, June 4th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit.
