Pio Paniccia

Pio Paniccia, 74, resident of Clarks Summit, PA and Veroli, Italy, passed away suddenly in Italy on September 20, 2022. Pio was born in Veroli, Italy and at the age of 20 moved to the United States with his parents and siblings. He had a career as a machinist with the Long Island Railroad until he retired, when he split his time between his two homes.

Pio's biggest passions were spending time with family and friends (often drinking wine and eating Italian food) and playing golf. He was a member of local golf leagues at Scott Greens mixed league and Summit Hills. He also was an active member of Our Lady of the Snows parish.

Pio is survived by his wife, Diane Beck, and former wife Mary Paniccia, his four children, Dante of Clarks Summit and Ginnie, Paul and Marc (and Caryn) from Suffolk County NY, five grandchildren, Sebastian, Darius, Jordana, Matthew and Thomas, all from  Suffolk County, NY and siblings Rita (and John) Greci and Leo (and Maria) Paniccia from Nassau County, NY, as well as many other relatives both in New York and Italy.

Pio's funeral mass was at the Chiesa di Santa Maria del Giglio and he was buried in the hilltop cemetery in Veroli, Italy, as was his wish.

A Memorial service will be held at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, Clarks Summit on Saturday, December 10 at 2 pm. Memorial contributions toward a golf academy scholarship fund can be made to Scott Greens Golf Club, 702 Elm Close Road, Olyphant, Pa. 18447.
