Raleigh E. Bloch, 90, of Tunkhannock passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 69 years, Jean (Nelson) Bloch.
Born on November 19, 1933 in Oshkosh, WI, he is the son of the late Nestor and Irene (Burgett) Bloch.
He was a graduate of Oshkosh High School and the Milwaukee School of Engineering. After graduating he served his country in the United States Air Force.
His career spanned working with the American Can Corp. and James River Corp., during which he and his wife moved across the country an impressive 15 times. Regardless of where they resided, Raleigh made it a point to immerse himself in each local community. He wholeheartedly dedicated his time and efforts to various committees and boards, leaving a positive impact wherever he went. He actively participated in organizations such as the Tuesday Toolmen, Seven Loaves Soup Kitchen, and several barbershop choruses and quartets.
Raleigh cherished moments spent with his family above all else. He found joy in singing, woodworking, and cooking. Raleigh was a proud member of the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church for many years and actively contributed to the church choir.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Diana Noreika and husband Paul, Julie Orloski and husband Robert Astegher; sister, Patricia Bloch; brother-in-law, Ronald Nelson; grandchildren, Brian and Matthew Noreika, Karen McGraw and husband Brian, Sarah Stegner and husband Tim; great grandchildren, Jack and Emilia McGraw, Anderson and Graham Stegner.
Family and friends are invited to attend Raleigh's funeral services which will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 11:00 AM from the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church, 4 Church St., Tunkhannock, PA with Pastor Tenny Hutchinson presiding.
A viewing will be held from 10:00AM until the time of service on Saturday.
