Randy K. Martenson

Randy K. Martenson, 68, of Falls Township, died on Monday evening at Allied Hospice, Scranton. His wife of over 38 years is Debra Mallick Martenson.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Carl and Grace Lytle Martenson. He was a 1975 graduate of Abington Heights High School and was the owner of Martenson Excavating. Randy had a tough exterior, but it housed a heart of gold. He enjoyed coffee, cigarettes, and trading stories, insults, and gossip at several coffee shops and gas stations throughout the years, with his most recent position being the unofficial mayor at the Falls Store. If he wasn't out being a socialite, he could be found at auctions collecting antique farm equipment that he deemed to be "treasures".

Randy was wise to marry a woman who could handle and/or ignore him when necessary and to have two daughters who softened him. He was a great husband, father, father-in-law, and Papa who provided laughter and stories that will last for generations.

Also surviving are daughters Amanda Clark and husband John, and Lexie Evans and husband Riley, all of Falls; grandchildren Gentrie Clark, Grady Evans, and Cooper Clark; brother Gary Martenson and wife Mary of Newton Township; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Dean Martenson.

A funeral will be held on Sunday at 3 pm at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit, with services by Karen Davis Rickaby. Friends may pay their respects from 1pm until the time of the service.
