Richard E. Gannon died peacefully on Sunday evening at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton surrounded by his family, including his wife of over 40 years, Patricia Cino Gannon.

Born in Walton, New York, he was the son of the late Richard D. and Mildred Brooks Gannon. He was a 1963 Clarks Summit Abington High School graduate and was the former owner/operator of Abington Lanes. In later years, he was employed by Airborne Express/DHL.

In addition to spending time with his family and friends, Rick was an avid bowler and longtime NASCAR and Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Surviving are three daughters, Lori Croyle and her husband Ryan of Wexford, Amy McCawley and her husband David of Old Forge, and Brenda Swartz and her husband Joe of Mill City; five grandchildren Tyler and Ben Croyle, Bryan and Scott McCawley, and Lauren Sunner; five great grandchildren Owen, Isla, Hadley, Ruby, and Oakley; and a sister, Louise Mitchell of Winter Park, Florida.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 1 pm at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit, with services by Karen Rickaby. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

Contributions can be made in Rick's name to the American Kidney Fund.
