Richard J. James, Dalton. died Wednesday at home.

Born in Scranton in 1944, he was the son of the late Ken and Marie Cours James. He was a 1962 graduate of Trail High School. Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He later worked for the railroad as a communication maintainer. He was a member of VFW Post #7069 and a past president of the Log Cabin Lodge. Richard was an avid outdoorsman and hunter who loved to spend time on his farm.

Richard is survived by his daughter Jenna J. Master and her husband Jon "Nate" of Laramie, Wyoming; grandchildren Jon, Christopher, and Emma Master, all of Laramie, Wyoming; brothers Robert James and wife Gail of Glenburn, William and wife Joan, and Thomas and wife Rose of Dalton; two sisters Susan Antoine of Florida and Nancy Carpenter and husband Robert of Dalton; his companion Debby Stiles of Dalton; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of the Abingtons Church, Seminary Rd. Dalton with services by Reverend Arbogaste Satoun, pastor . All those attending Mass are asked to go directly to the church. Interment with military honors will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Mill City. Friends may pay their respects on Monday from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Dalton Fire Company.
